Managing Item category

With Aente, organizing the categories of your items becomes much easier, as it allows you to categorize your purchasing chain, control expenses, and track item consumption. By categorizing them correctly, you also impact the financial area of your account.
Creating item category
To begin creating an item category certain prerequisites must be met, as outlined below:
- You must have a provider account.
- Your provider account must be assigned a role with the appropriate permissions for creating item categories, including the following:
Once all necessary configurations are in place, you can proceed with the steps below to create an item category:

Click on the module labeled “Supply chain.”

After entering the module, select the option “Item categories.”

Click the blue button to initiate the creation of a new item category

Upon accessing the creation form for item categories, you can begin filling out the required fields. These fields are sufficient to correctly create a laboratory, and they include: Name | Code | Name Pt Note: Although filling out the optional fields is not mandatory, doing so is important for ensuring that your business benefits from a wider range of essential validations.

After ensuring that all the required fields have been filled out, simply click the blue button labeled “Create item category”, and that’s it! Your category will be successfully registered in the system.
Editing item category
To begin editing an item category, you must first meet the following prerequisites:
- You must have a provider account.
- Your provider account must be assigned a role with the appropriate permissions for editing associated laboratories, including the following:
Once all necessary configurations are in place, you can proceed with the steps below to edit an item category:
- Click on the module labeled “Supply chain.”
- After entering the module, select the option “Item Categories.”
- When the list of item categories appears, enter the name of the category you wish to edit in the search field.
- If an item category matching the searched name exists, the system will display options corresponding to your search.
- After locating the desired category, click on it.
- At this point, the system will display the item categories form, pre-filled with the information provided at the time of its creation.
- Now, simply delete the information from the desired field and enter the new data.
Example: If the “Name” field needs to be changed because the laboratory has a new name, just delete the old name and provide the new one.
- Once all the necessary information has been edited, click the blue button labeled “Update item category,” and that’s it! Your category will be successfully updated in the system.
Deleting item category
Note: Nothing is deleted from the system and everything that is “deleted” is actually a status change. Once an item has been deleted your may recover and change the status back to active.
To begin deleting an item category, you must first meet the following prerequisites:

- Your provider account must be assigned a role with the appropriate permissions for deleting item categories, including the following:
Once all necessary configurations are in place, you can proceed with the steps below to delete an item category:
- Click on the module labeled “Supply chain.”
- After entering the module, select the option “Item Categories.”
- When the list of item categories appears, enter the name of the item category you wish to delete in the search field.
- If an item category matching the searched name exists, the system will display options corresponding to your search.
- After locating the desired item category, click on it.
- At this point, the system will display the item categories form, pre-filled with the information provided at the time of its creation.
- Now, simply click on the “Delete item category” option, and that’s it! The category will be successfully removed from your list of categories.
Example: If the deleted category is associated with any item category, it will be automatically unlinked of the raw item.
Restoring item category
To begin restoring an item category, you must first meet the following prerequisites:
- You must have a provider account.
- Your provider account must be assigned a role with the appropriate permissions for restoring item categories, including the following:
Once all necessary configurations are in place, you can proceed with the steps below to restore an item category:
- Click on the module labeled “Supply Chain.”
- After entering the module, select the option “Item Categories.”
- At this point, you will need to adjust the filter to display only deleted categories by selecting the option “Only Trashed.”
- After completing the previous step, the system will display all categories that were once part of your operations but are now deleted. Enter the name of the item category you wish to restore in the search field.
- When you locate the desired category, click on the option shown in the list.
- Upon seeing the yellow card above the form, click on “Restore.”
- That’s it! The Category that was previously deleted has now been restored to your list of active item categories and can be used without issue.
Linking item categories to raw items
To begin linking an item category to a raw item, you must first meet the following prerequisites:
- You must have a provider account.
- Your provider account must be assigned a role with the appropriate permissions for managing raw itens and item categories.
- Your account must have raw itens and item categories that are created and active.
Once all the necessary configurations are in place, you can follow the steps below to link an item category:
- Click on the module labeled “Supply Chain.”
- After entering the module, select the option “Raw items.”
- Click the blue button to start creating one Raw Item.
- When the raw items creation form is displayed, look for the field named “Category” and click on it.
- If your profile and account meet the prerequisites, a list of all item categories will be shown. Select the item category you wish to link to the raw item.
- That’s it! The item category will now be linked to the Raw item of your choice.
Note: To ensure the item category is properly linked, you must complete the creation of the raw item. This means that other required fields, beyond just the item categories field, must be filled in.
