Managing Breeds

With Aente, managing your veterinary business is much simpler. By using the breed feature, managing and cataloging all the animal breeds your business serves becomes an easy and practical task, helping your future customers find specific services for their pet’s breed.
Creating a breed
To start creating a breed, you must first meet some prerequisites, namely:
- You must have a provider account.
- You must have a root account
- Your provider account must be assigned a role with the appropriate permissions for creating Species, including the following:
Once you have all the necessary setup, you can follow these steps to create a breed:
- Click on the module labeled “Operational.”
- After entering the module, select the option “Breeds”
- Click the blue button to start creating a new breed.
- Upon accessing the creation form for breed, you can begin filling out the required fields. These fields are sufficient to correctly create a breed, and they include: Breed name | Species
Note: Although filling out the optional fields is not mandatory, doing so is important for ensuring that your business benefits from a wider range of essential validations.
Note: The species field is used to link a breed to it, Example: if you are creating a breed referring to dogs, the recommended species is the dog species.
- After ensuring that all the required fields have been filled out, simply click the blue button labeled “Create Breed”, and that’s it! Your breed will be successfully registered in the system
Editing a breed
To start editing a breed, you must first meet some prerequisites, namely:
- You must have a provider account.
- You must have a root account
- Your provider account must be assigned a role with the appropriate permissions for editing Breeds, including the following:

- Pet Species Get Self / Get All
- Pet Species Show
- Pet Species Update / Update All
Once you have all the necessary setup, you can follow these steps to edit a breed.
- Click on the module labeled “Operational.”
- After entering the module, select the option “Breed”
- When viewing the list of breeds, fill in the search field with the name of the breed you want to make an edit
- If there is a breed with the searched name, the system will return options that coincide with the searched name
- After viewing the breed you want, click on it
- In this step, the system will show you the breed form filled in with the information that was provided at the time of its creation
- Now, simply delete the information from the desired field and enter the new data.
Example: If the Name field needs to be changed because the breed has changed its name, just delete the old name and provide the new one.
- Once all the necessary information has been edited, click the blue button labeled “Update breed ” and that’s it! Your laboratory will be successfully updated in the system.
Deleting a Breed
Note: Nothing is deleted from the system and everything that is “deleted” is actually a status change. Once an item has been deleted your may recover and change the status back to active.
To start deleting a breed, you must first meet some prerequisites, namely:
- You must have a provider account.
- You must have a root account
- Your provider account must be assigned a role with the appropriate permissions for deleting Breeds, including the following:
Once you have all the necessary configuration, you can follow these steps to delete a breed.
- Click on the module labeled “Operational.”
- After entering the module, select the option “Breeds”
- When viewing the list of breeds, fill in the search field with the name of the breed you want
- If there is a breed with the searched name, the system will return options that coincide with the searched name
- After viewing the breed you want, click on it
- In this step, the system will show you the breed form filled in with the information that was provided at the time of its creation1. Now, simply click on the “Delete Breeds” option, and that’s it! The breed is properly excluded from your list of breeds
Note: If the deleted breed is associated with a customer’s pet, it will not be automatically unlinked to the pet
Restoring a breed
To start the breed restoration, you must first meet some prerequisites, namely:
- You must have a provider account.
- You must have a root account
- Your provider account must be assigned a role with the appropriate permissions for Restoring Breeds, including the following:
Once you have all the necessary configuration, you can follow these steps to restore a breed.
- Click on the module labeled “Operational.”
- After entering the module, select the option “raça”
- At this point, you will need to adjust the filter to display only deleted raças by selecting the option “Only Trashed.”
- After performing the previous step, the system will show you all the breeds that were once availble but are now deleted, just fill in the search field with the name of the breed you want to restore
- When you find the breed, click on the option shown in the list
- When viewing the yellow card above the form, click Restore
- That’s it! Now the breed that had previously been deleted is back on your list of active breeds and can be used normally
Linking a breed to a PET
The linking of breeds to a PET is done through a customer, so to start the link it is necessary to have a customer created and active within your account, after fulfilling this requirement the linking of a breed can be carried out by following the following steps:

Click on the module labeled “Accounts.”

After entering the module, select the option “customer.”

Click the blue button to start creating one or more customers

When you see the list of customers, fill in the search field with the name of the customer to whom you want to add a pet with the breed.

If a customer with the searched name exists, the system will return options matching the search term.

After finding the customer you want, click on it.

At this point, the system will show you the customer form filled with the information provided during its creation.

Click on the “Pets” tab.

Click the “Add Pet” button.

The system will now show you an empty pet addition form.

Click on the “Species” field

Select the desired species. Note: At this stage, the system will filter the breeds linked to that species when the breed was created.

Click on the “Breeds” field.

The system will now show you the list of breeds linked to the species selected in the previous field.

Select the desired breed.

That’s it! The breed will now be linked to the pet of your choice.
Note: To ensure the breed is properly linked, you must complete the creation of the Breed. This means that other required fields, beyond just the Species name field, must be filled in.
