Managing Species

With Aente, managing the veterinary side of your business is much simpler. By using the species feature, managing and cataloging all the species your business serves becomes an easy and practical task, helping your future customers find specific services for their pet’s species.

Creating Species

To start creating a species, you must first meet some prerequisites, which are:

  1. You must have a provider account.
  2. Possess a root account.
  3. Your provider account must be assigned a role with the appropriate permissions for creating Species, including the following:

  1. Pet Species Get All / Get Self
  2. Pet Species Show
  3. Pet Species Create

After ensuring all the necessary configurations, you can follow these steps to create a species:

  1. Click on the module labeled “Operational.”
  2. After entering the module, select the option “Species.”
  3. Click the blue button to start creating a new Species.
  4. Upon accessing the creation form for associated species, you can begin filling out the required fields. These fields are sufficient to correctly create a species and include: Species name.

Note: Although filling out the optional fields is not mandatory, doing so is important for ensuring that your business benefits from a wider range of essential validations.

  1. After ensuring that all the required fields have been filled out, simply click the blue button labeled “Create Species”, and that’s it! Your species will be successfully registered in the system.

Editing a Species

To start editing a species, you must first meet some prerequisites, which are:

  1. You must have a provider account.
  2. Possess a root account.
  3. Your provider account must have a role configured with permissions for editing species, including the following:

  1. Pet Species Get All / Get Self
  2. Pet Species Update / Update All

After ensuring all the necessary configurations, you can follow these steps to edit a species:

  1. Click on the module labeled “Operational.”
  2. After entering the module, select the option “Species.”
  3. When you see the list of species, fill in the search field with the name of the species you want to edit.
  4. If a species with the searched name exists, the system will return options matching the search term.
  5. After finding the species you want, click on it.
  6. At this point, the system will show you the species form filled with the information provided during its creation.
  7. Now, simply delete the information from the desired field and enter the new data.

Example: If the Name field needs to be changed because the species name changed, just erase the old name and provide the new one.

  1. Once all necessary information has been edited, click the blue button labeled “Update Species”, and that’s it! Your species will be successfully updated in the system.

Deleting a Species

Note: Nothing is deleted from the system and everything that is “deleted” is actually a status change. Once an item has been deleted your may recover and change the status back to active.

To start deleting a species, you must first meet some prerequisites, which are:

  1. You must have a provider account.
  2. Possess a root account.
  3. Your provider account must have a role configured with permissions for deleting species, including the following:

  1. Pet Species Get Self / Get All
  2. Pet Species Show
  3. Pet Species Update All
  4. Pet Species Delete All

After ensuring all the necessary configurations, you can follow these steps to delete a species:

  1. Click on the module labeled “Operational.”
  2. After entering the module, select the option “Species.”
  3. When you see the list of species, fill in the search field with the name of the species you want.
  4. If a species with the searched name exists, the system will return options matching the search term.
  5. After finding the species you want, click on it.
  6. At this point, the system will show you the species form filled with the information provided during its creation.
  7. Now, simply click on the “Delete Species” option, and that’s it! The species will be successfully removed from your list of species.

Example: If the deleted species is linked to any Breed, it will be automatically unlinked from the breed.

Restoring a Species

To start restoring a species, you must first meet some prerequisites, which are:

  1. You must have a provider account.
  2. Possess a root account.
  3. Your provider account must have a role configured with permissions for restoring species, including the following:

  1. Pet Species Get Self / Get All
  2. Pet Species Show
  3. Pet Species Restore All
  4. Pet Species Update / Update All

After ensuring all the necessary configurations, you can follow these steps to restore a species:

  1. Click on the module labeled “Operational.”
  2. After entering the module, select the option “Species.”
  3. At this point, you will need to adjust the filter to display only deleted species by selecting the option “Only Trashed.”
  4. After completing the previous step, the system will show you all the species that were once part of your list but are now deleted. Fill in the search field with the name of the species you want to restore.
  5. When you find the species, click on the option shown in the list.
  6. Upon viewing the yellow card above the form, click on Restore.
  7. That’s it! The species that was previously deleted is now back in your active species list and can be used again.

Linking a Breed to a Species

To start linking a Breed, you must first meet some prerequisites, which are:

  1. You must have a provider account.
  2. Possess a root account.
  3. Your provider account must be assigned a role with the appropriate permissions for managing associated breeds, including deletion.
  4. Your account must have species created and active.

After ensuring all the necessary configurations, you can follow these steps to link a species to a breed:

  1. Click on the module labeled “Operational.”
  2. After entering the module, select the option “Breeds.”
  3. Select of breed you wish to associate a speacies or click the ”+” button to start creating a new breed.
  4. When the form is displayed, look for the field named “Species” and click on it.
  5. If your profile and account meet the prerequisites, a list of all species will be shown. Select the species you wish to link to the breed.
  6. That’s it! The species will now be linked to the breed of your choice.

Note: To ensure the species is properly linked, you must complete the creation of the Breed. This means that other required fields, beyond just the Species name field, must be filled in.
